Ryan Resky, Trumpeter
Ryan Resky has performed as a freelance trumpeter across the U.S. including serving as the Lead Trumpeter for the Radio City New York Spectacular in 2016 as well as several seasons of the Radio City Christmas Spectacular since 2012.
In addition, Ryan has also performed for Broadway Musicals, (On the 20th Century, Side Show, Pippin, Legally Blonde, Chicago, The Full Monty, Kiss Me, Kate) as well as various artists (including Jill Scott, Robert Glasper, Bilal, Gregory Porter, Terrance Blanchard, Bobby Vinton, John Pizzarelli, Jane Monheit, Harolyn Blackwell, etc.) He is also lead trumpet of the Revive Big Band led by Igmar Thomas.
Ryan was featured on Episode 70 of HBO's The Soprano's as a wedding band performer and musical arranger, which aired on April 9th, 2006. He has also appeared on the Today Show for the Freedom of the Seas (Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines) Inaugural Celebration, which aired live on NBC, May 11, 2006.
Ryan attended the New England Conservatory from 1996-1998 and the Brooklyn College-Conservatory of Music from 1999-2008 where he received his Bachelors in Music Performance. While at Brooklyn College, Ryan performed Principal Trumpet with the Conservatory Orchestra and was the Winner of the 2001 Concerto competition performing the Haydn Concerto. He also appeared as soloist with the orchestra on several other occasions performing the Hummel Concerto, Shostakovich Concerto for Piano, Trumpet and Strings, Bach's Second Brandenburg Concerto, and Vivaldi's Concerto for Two Trumpets.
While at Brooklyn College, Ryan studied with Dr. Douglas Hedwig (27 years MET Opera Orchestra). Previous to Brooklyn College Mr. Resky studied with Charles Schlueter (NEC/BSO), William Vacchiano (NY Phil ret.), Murry Kahn and Ronald Schwickart. Additional studies with Roger Ingram, Jerome Callet, Rodger Lee, Dr. Richard Titone, Dr. John Charles Thomas and Christopher Still.
Ryan's musical career has led him to many other exciting performances including traveling the country as premier racetrack bugler, culminating in playing the Call to the Post for the Triple Crown at Belmont Park in 2015, as a part of the Belmont Stakes Buglers.
In addition, Ryan has also performed with One World Symphony as Principal Trumpet and soloist, the Staten Island Symphony, The Brooklyn Symphony, Metro Chamber Orchestra, LIU Brass Ensemble and many others.
Mr. Resky is currently Adjunct Faculty at NYU and the Assistant Director of the MEJE (Music Education Jazz Ensemble).
